Boommask – Safeguarding user privacy

Boommask allows two parties to send SMS messages to each other without having to reveal their identities - a facility which may be essential in sensitive applications. Confidentiality is guaranteed via the ‘masking’ of each participant’s personal details.

Significantly, this means that privacy laws concerning the disclosure of personal information, which have previously precluded communication by email or SMS, are surmounted by Boommask.

At the same time, however, organisations are able to access a complete trail of communication between employees or with customers, fulfilling compliance requirements.

Boommask in action

Take a charity which provides help-line support. It may want to offer the opportunity for its volunteers and ‘customers’ to correspond via SMS, yet without the latter having to share any personal contact information.

Boommask achieves this by masking the two parties’ mobile phone numbers, so that neither party can be identified.

At the same time, however, the charity retains a permanent record of all inbound and outbound SMS activity for all of its volunteers, to ensure compliance with auditing requirements.
